Our first Children's
Culture Connection event, “Destination: CHINA,” was a
huge success!
Held October 23, 2005 at Azia restaurant in
Minneapolis, "Destination:
CHINA" raised
over $4,000 for Half the Sky
Foundation. Scroll down to see
more!
Children adopted from China came from
all over Minnesota to learn more about Chinese
culture.

Through beautiful silent auction tables, photographic
displays, and regional cuisine, guests traveled vicariously to the
sophisticated city of Hong Kong, the peaceful village of
Yangshuo, the exotic desert oasis of Kashgar, the remote grasslands
of Inner Mongolia, and the sacred Buddhist island of
Putuoshan.

After lunch, Dina Fesler
presented a fashion show featuring designs inspired by each of the
five regions in China.

Front row seats went to the
guests of honor!

TESTIMONIALS:
"The Fashion Show Fundraiser was a
fabulous event! My 10 year old and 7 year old were
awestruck by the REAL FASHION MODELS and spent most of their time
peering through the curtain at them. It was a great change of
pace for me to be at a gathering that was geared to adults as
well. I enjoyed the food, the beautifully displayed
auction items, and particularly appreciated your amazing
fashions. It was clear that hours and hours of work went
into the invitations, the booklets, the fashions, the auction items
– every little detail. The diverse group of fashion
models were wonderful – totally gorgeous in all their different
sizes and skin tones and very kind to the admiring gaggle of kids.
Thank you for bringing a touch of glamour to FCC
and thank you for raising $4000 for Half the Sky Foundation.
I can’t wait to see what your next production will
be."
-Karen H.
"I have been wanting to tell you HOW FABULOUS
your event was!!!!!!! It was an incredible day. Still, we talk about
it. My mother and I spent $200 on the silent auction so we feel good
about that and hope you made some $ for HTS!!!"
-Jill G.
"Thanks so much for the fantastic
fundraiser/fashion show Sunday. I really enjoyed it and was so
impressed with the event at every level. My own girls haven't
developed much interest in fashion, but they enjoyed the unique
experience and all the special details. Having worked on many
FCC parties I hardly dare to imagine all the hours of work that went
into this marvelous event. Congratulations on your great
success."

"I love the personalized passport you mailed to my
husband and me!!! I just want to tell you how beautiful they
are: wrapped in Chinese newspaper, with maps of China and
itinerary, etc. I love the idea of traveling to five cities in
China to taste and see the food and items! The professional
fashion show of Chinese inspired fashion designs was fabulous!
Your creativity really makes this event a very unique way to share
Chinese culture with adopted Chinese children."
-Echo H.
"I just wanted to say what a wonderful time we
had today! The event was fabulous; the food was great, it
was a fresh and fun silent auction and your fashions were just
beautiful. You did a magnificent job and my girls had fun
collecting the stamps in their passports and little gifts at each
region. Thanks for a memorable day!"
-Mary S.

beautiful, the displays artful and informative. We left with a new
appreciation and understanding of Chinese
culture."

"We had a wonderful time at the Sunday Fashion
Show/Fundraiser. My girls were mesmerized by the models! They have
done various modeling jobs for Target and Best Buy and others, so
this was especially fun for the to see real models at work.
